Who We're Looking For
Calling All Creative Performers!
We seek passionate improvisers and performers who thrive in engaging young audiences. Ideal candidates are those with a love for improv fundamentals, a knack for entertaining children, and a desire to contribute to an interactive theater experience. We welcome children’s theater artists, actors, teaching artists, and early childhood educators with a flair for comedy to audition and bring their unique talents to our stage.
Key Audition Dates
The audition process for Penny Arcade is structured with several important dates to keep in mind. The audition form will close on Sunday, December 21st at 5pm, so be sure to complete it before then. The main audition will take place on Saturday, January 3rd, from 12pm to 3pm. If callbacks are necessary, they will be held on Sunday, January 11th, from 1pm to 2pm. You will receive an email by Wednesday, December 31st with your specific audition time slot. Mark these dates on your calendar to ensure you don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity!
Audition Details
Prepare to showcase your improv skills at the Penny Arcade auditions! We are looking for performers who can engage young audiences with creativity and enthusiasm. Please select your favorite short form improv game to present, as if you are hosting it for children aged 4-8 and their families. This game can be of any length and does not need to be a Penny Arcade original. If you need guidance, reach out to Coach Beth Geatches at bgeatches@gmail.com by Saturday, December 27th.

- Auditions will be held at Arcade Comedy Theater, 943 Liberty Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15222. Limited street parking is available on Liberty & Penn, as well as some side streets. There is garage parking located at the Smithfield & Liberty Garage, David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Grant Street Transportation Center (a.k.a. Greyhound Station parking) nearby! ParkPGH.org is a helpful site to find real-time parking information in Downtown Pittsburgh.
- Plan to arrive at Arcade about 15 minutes before your scheduled slot. If you arrive late, we may not be able to see you.
- Wear comfy clothes that you’re able to move in.
- You don’t need to bring a headshot or resume.
- Please arrive warmed-up and ready to go.
- There will be improv, improv game hosting, and workshop facilitation activities in the audition with the entire audition group. Be ready to get silly together!
Compensation
Performer Payment Structure
Participating in Penny Arcade offers not only a chance to entertain but also a rewarding compensation structure. Performers are paid $30 for each show they participate in, with additional opportunities for paid private events throughout the year. These events may include birthday parties, community gatherings, and school functions. While rehearsal and audition times are not compensated, the experience and exposure gained are invaluable.
