Frequently Asked Questions

Updated 8/20/21

Why are you requiring proof of COVID-19 vaccination to attend a show or take a class?

COVID-19 vaccines are very effective at preventing infection, transmission, hospitalization and death. A theater is an enclosed setting with many people, making it an easy place for disease transmission. Restricting attendance to individuals who are fully vaccinated drastically lowers the risk of people being infected and being able to transmit COVID-19.

Where can I get a COVID-19 vaccine?

Check https://www.vaccines.gov/ for information on where you can get a vaccine.

Need a ride? A babysitter? Some moral support? Let us know, and we’ll try to help!

Why are masks required in addition to proof of vaccine?

We are using the Swiss Cheese approach of layering mitigation strategies. Masks give us another layer of protection. With an audience of people (hopefully) laughing, we want to limit the amount of droplets flying through the air, especially with the more transmissible Delta variant becoming more prevalent.

Improved HVAC + masks + vaccines give us the best chance to stop COVID-19 in its tracks.

What do I need to do to prove I am vaccinated?

As you enter the building, a box office staff member will request to see either your completed vaccine card or a photo of the card on your phone. The photo must show a completed vaccine card and be readable.

We will also accept documentation from your healthcare provider or a digital vaccination passport app.

Is the Arcade staff fully-vaccinated?

Yes, all Arcade staff and volunteers are fully vaccinated.

Are the artists fully-vaccinated?

Yes, Arcade is requiring that any artist appearing on our stage show proof of vaccination before entering the building.

Will the artists be wearing a mask on stage?

No, artists are not required to wear masks on stage, although they have the option to if they wish. Having an audience that is fully-vaccinated and masked ensures that our artists will still be safe while performing.

How is air circulated in your building?

Arcade Comedy Theater’s HVAC system was installed in 2017 and is equipped with fresh air economizer filtration systems that have a MERV rating of 10. Each room in the building has its own dedicated unit providing proper airflow and ventilation.

Will you always require masks and proof of vaccination?

Arcade’s staff and board of directors will continue to monitor the recommendations of the CDC and the Allegheny County Health Department. As conditions evolve, we will update our health and safety policies.

I’m not able to be vaccinated due to a medical exception or a sincerely held religious belief. Am I allowed to attend?
For guests who are not able to be vaccinated for these specific reasons, they must provide one of the following instead of evidence of vaccination:
  • negative COVID-19 antigen test taken within 24 hours of the performance start time, or
  • negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of the performance start time.
You will still be required to wear a mask at all times, and follow all other guidelines outlined above.
Are children that cannot be vaccinated against COVID-19 allowed to attend shows?

At this time, Arcade is only presenting productions indoors for guests age 16 and older. We are currently exploring outdoor options for family programming that can be attended by children of any age. We look forward to welcoming families back into our theater once conditions improve or vaccination restrictions expand.
